HVAC Piping: Reasons for Using PVC Pipes in Your Hybrid HVAC System

Posted on: 10 March 2020

Heating your home is crucial to your comfort. Installing a hybrid HVAC system will ensure that your house is at a comfortable temperature even when it is freezing outside. You can buy high-quality HVAC piping at your local hardware store. Here are three reasons why you should use PVC piping in your HVAC system.

PVC piping is corrosion-resistant, while metallic pipes are prone to rust and corrosion. If one pipe gets corroded, the corrosion is bound to spread to all the pipes in the system. If your pipes are rusting, you will need to replace all the pipes in the system. That can be very costly. Apart from that, your building will not have heating for the duration of the repair. These may result in other cost implications. Bear in mind that you cannot install metallic piping underground. That is because moisture will cause the pipes to corrode faster. It will not be a problem with PVC pipes. You can place them in both moist and dry parts of the house.

Installing a hybrid HVAC system in your home, you expect that it will serve you for a long time. PVC piping is long-lasting and can withstand the elements. If you are installing the pipes under the house where there is no crawlspace, it isn't easy to check on the piping. You, therefore, need pipes that will not get damaged in that kind of environment. Dented pipes can affect the quality of heating in your house. PVC is not prone to denting and therefore, will serve you for a long time. It is also resistant to corrosive and acidic gases that may severely damage metallic piping. That means no matter where you live or the type of building you're in, PVC piping will work for your hybrid HVAC system.

Metals are excellent conductors of heat. That, however, makes them a poor choice for heating piping. That is because they do not hold heat well. It can be very frustrating to have an ineffective heating system. As the air moves through the piping, the pipes disperse the heat. The system will be inefficient. PVC piping, on the other hand, holds heat very well. That makes it the best choice if you are installing a heating system in a large house. It will provide excellent insulation for your home.
